If you’ve ever purchased devices or accessories from the Google Play store, or plan to sometime in the near future then you will appreciate this next bit of news.
Currently, there are no other shipping choices besides the usual “1-2 business days.” That means there’s only one price available to consumers when purchasing products through Google Play. Usually it ranges from about $5.99 to $19.99 for a bumper case, and up to $13.99 for devices like the Nexus 4, 7 and 10. Faster shipping is always good when you want something quick, but what about when your budget is tight? It’s always beneficial to have cheaper options to choose from, at the very least.
According to sources, new shipping options will be offered for purchases through the Google Play store. Supposedly new shipping options will include prices for 2 business days via UPS, Ground which is 2 day processing and 3-5 days for delivery, and Saver which is 2 day processing plus 5-10 days for delivery.
Droid Life is reporting the news, stating that the information comes from a reliable source with ties to the company.
There’s one potential issue, however. It appears the new shipping options will only be exclusive to the ‘Nexus 4 family’ to start. If you want a Nexus 7 or a Nexus 10, you’ll be stuck with only the 2 day shipping options. Furthermore, there’s no mention about the shipping for accessories, so it is possible 2 day shipping will be the only option for bumper cases too. Of course, since the term was ‘Nexus 4 family’ it could also include the Nexus 4 accessories in that generalization.
While it is a little disconcerting to see the option only arriving for the Nexus 4 family, we can only hope that it will be expanded to include other devices and accessories at a later date. That being said, what do you think of the news? Are you upset that the Nexus 4 and possibly compatible accessories will include alternate shipping options? I mean, a new Nexus 7 is bound to release sometime in the near future, and you can only take advantage of 2 day shipping- that just plain sucks.
If Droid Life’s sources are correct, the new shipping options should go live on May 28th, which is tomorrow. Duh.
