One of the things that we deal with while writing about Android devices is trying to sift through all the rumors, leaks, and tips that flood the internet on a daily basis. For every correct “inside source” who gives out solid information on upcoming device specifications or even better a blurry photo, there are just as many if not more photoshops and just outright fairytales.
There are also of course those leaked benchmarks that pop up from time to time whose validity are just as spotty as the other rumors. If you throw in the fact that the source of the benchmark is from a foreign website translated from what was originally written in Dutch, then it leaves it open for for more questions than we have answers.
Now that we got all of that out of the way there is a new set of benchmarks making the rounds, this time for the upcoming 8 inch model of Samsung Galaxy Tab 3. Originally discovered by Dutch website TechTastic, a tablet bearing the model number SM-T311, has shown up in the GLBenchmark database. We know from previous reporting that this is what the model number is for Samsung’s 8 inch slate.
One of the good thing about these benchmarks is that they give us a peek as to what kind to specifications a particular device is sporting. Here is what we supposedly getting with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0:
8-inch WXVGA (1280 x 800) display
dual-core 1.5Ghz Exynos 4412 processor
2GB RAM
4500mAh battery
ARM Mali-400 GPU
This is in addition to the previously leaked specs including:
3-megapixel camera on the back
1.3-megapixel front-facing camera
9.6 x 112.1 x 6.95mm measurements
330 grams
The Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 is also expected to ship with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean along with Samsung’s TouchWiz interface on top of it. It’s also safe to assume that this device will run all of Samsung’s much hyped up suite of health applications that were put on display during the Galaxy S IV launch in New York City not too long ago.
While we can’t speak for the validity of this benchmark, we do know that such a device is on the cusp of being announced. In an effort to hit every single price point on every single device size not only will be be seeing the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 on the next few weeks, Samsung is also expected to bring out both a 7 and a 10 inch variant as well as some new members of the Galaxy Note family.
Anyone of you guys planning on picking this up? let us know in the comments.
