Droid Daily 6/20/13: Swiftkey, Spotify, Instagram, Galaxy S4 and More

Swiftkey Celebrates 150,000 5-star Reviews

Swiftkey is doing a 50% off sale to celebrate over 150 thousand 5-star ratings. A somewhat odd celebration, but it’s well worth it. I use Swiftkey on all my devices, including the review devices I have from time to time. Grab Swiftkey on the Play Store.

Nexus 7 32GB and Sony Alpha NEX-5R Camera bundle….wait, what?

That’s right. Adorama is offering a somewhat weird bundle today. Offering a Sony Alpha NEX-5R DSLR along with a Nexus 7 32GB for $687.99. Grab it from here.

T-Mobile Galaxy S4 Kernel Source Posted

Samsung has posted the final Galaxy S4 kernel source. That would be the T-Mobile Galaxy S4’s kernel source. Which is great for kernel developers out there.

Spotify gets Updated

Today, Spotify got a nice update which fixed a few bugs. Here’s the changelog from the Play Store:

What’s in this version:

New: Now you can control playback from the notification area. Skip and be happy. Android version 4.1 and above.
Fixed: Some troublesome Facebook login issues.
Fixed: A bug that could cause a white screen just when you least expected it.
Improved: Radio performance.
Fictitious: This app can be controlled using telepathy.

Instagram Adds Video

We talked about this earlier today, but the Instagram app has now been updated to add video. Similar to Vine, you can now take videos up to 15 seconds in length. Here’s the changelog from the Google Play Store:

What’s in this version:

New in 4.0: Video!
We’re excited to introduce Video on Instagram and bring you a new way to share your stories.
When you go to take a photo on Instagram, you’ll now see a movie camera icon. We also added 13 new filters that we built specifically for video.
Note: Capturing videos is currently supported on devices with Jellybean (4.1) and above. All Android versions can already play videos on Instagram and we’re working around the clock to enable capturing videos on many more Android devices.
