It looks like the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 will be coming to at least one US carrier sometime soon. It’s just made a second pass through the FCC, only this time the supported frequencies matchup with AT&T’s LTE network.
It goes without saying the Galaxy Mega 6.3 currently holds the record for one of the largest screen sizes on a smartphone (it’s not the largest). Sony may be looking to take that crown from Samsung pretty soon with the Xperia ZU, otherwise known as the Togari. In comparison, the Xperia ZU is said to include a massive 6.44-inch display.
Expansys, an online mobile retailer, is currently offering the Galaxy Mega 6.3 for $595 in the US. AT&T’s pricing will certainly be lower than that thanks to subsidized pricing, except for users planning to purchase the handset outright. It will also mean they’ll be the only carrier offering the massive handset, unless it arrives on alternate carriers at a later date.
Looking at this from a logical perspective, Samsung is probably going to launch the Galaxy Mega before the Note III. After all, the Note will draw a lot of attention to itself and perhaps might even pull some users away from the larger size handset. Samsung is well known for releasing handsets like crazy, but when you’re the top smartphone manufacturer in the industry you can do that kind of thing.
Expect to see the Galaxy Mega available before the end of the summer if it is coming to AT&T.
