Ever since last year when HTC launched the One with ImageSense, they realized how important the camera is for most smartphone users. This year they went even further with the UltraPixel camera module and with the ImageSense 2.0 accelerator, and tried to make the HTC One (M7) the best phone with the best camera on the market, and at least in low-light performance I’d say they’ve achieved that.
Now, HTC wants to bring the same camera to its upcoming HTC One Mini (M4) and the Butterfly S smartphones. The Butterfly S seems to be an upgrade to the Butterfly smartphone, with the same 1080p sceen, but with higher storage capacity, a newer Qualcomm processor, and the UltraPixel camera. It’s also rumored to have a microSD slot, which could hint at HTC’s return to microSD slots, after leaving them out from their phones for a while.
The HTC One Mini, as you’d expect, is a smaller version of the HTC One. It will have a 4.3″ screen with a 720p resolution, which immediately makes it a better alternative to the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, which only has a qHD resolution. At this point all higher end 4″+ phone should have a 720p resolution or higher. It will also come with 2 GB of RAM, a dual core processor, stereo speakers on the front (much like the regular HTC One, probably with “BoomSound”). The phone will have LTE connectivity, too, and will arrive with Android 4.2 and Sense.
HTC may succeed keeping the momentum from the HTC One growing with the HTC One Mini, a device that seems much more like the mini version of a flagship (with the exception of using a dual core instead of a quad core processor), compared to the Galaxy S4 Mini, which doesn’t even use a “retina” display (256 PPI), while the HTC One Mini will have it (341 PPI). The phone should be available with a red color option in July, and a blue one later on.
What do you think of this news? Are you interested in the different color variants of the HTC One Mini? Are there any color variants you would prefer to see? What about the other specs?
