HTC announced the HTC One earlier this year. Despite having some trouble getting the device out the door, they’ve got it out there and it sold very well in May. In fact, HTC saw a 48% growth in May for sales. The HTC One helped the Taiwanese manufacturer reach their highest sales level in nearly 11 months. Kevin Chang of Citigroup Global Markets actually believes that the HTC One accounted for half of the company’s sales, the Taipei Times reported. He also estimates that shipments may have doubled from April to about 1.2 million units. Sales of the smartphone are not expected to improve again this month. But it would be a welcome surprise.
The analyst also believes that shipments of the HTC One may have peaked and because sales of other models remain weak, and he notes that the company’s revenue is likely to be flat in June. Which is a real possibility. This comes after Samsung is said to be going down with the demand for the Galaxy S4. The point is, the HTC One is about 2 months old now. And those looking for a new phone are waiting to see what comes out this summer since there’s the Moto X and the Galaxy Note 3 coming out this summer and Fall.
Even if HTC doesn’t sell a few million HTC One’s in June, I still think the One has desperately helped them stop the bleeding at least a bit. It’s great to see HTC selling a few million HTC One’s since it’s a great device. How many of you are thinking of picking up the HTC One this month? Let us know in the comments down below.
