Back at Mobile World Congress, LG had quite a few phones that they showed off and announced. One of the new Optimus phones was the Optimus L7 II which is a mid-range phone. We already knew the device was coming, but now we know that it’ll be running Android 4.3 – Jelly Bean which hasn’t yet been announced. But we have seen it hinted and leaked numerous times already.
Today, LG’s website had the device listed with Android 4.3, Google’s latest unreleased version of Android. It could be a mistake, but who knows at this point. There was a nexus 4 running Android 4.3 at a trade show last week. There were rumors that Google would announce Android 4.3 with the new Nexus 7 on June 10th. It could still happen since June 10th is this coming Monday, but we haven’t seen any press invite for an event yet.
We aren’t sure if LG just didn’t want to wait or if LG made a mistake but the product page clearly says “Android 4.3 Jelly bean” for the version of the operating system it’s running. The folks at Techtastic first found the mistake on LG’s website, and they’ve reached out to LG for answers but have no responses yet. But the fact that Android 4.3 was mentioned definitely got our attention here.
The only question now is, where is Android 4.3? We’ve waited long enough Google, just give us some new code to play with! I’m almost more excited for a new Nexus 7 tablet than a new version of Android. Of course, I’d love to get both come Monday morning. If Google does decide to announce Android 4.3 and the new Nexus 7 through a press release on Monday, we’ll be sure to keep you covered. How many of you are impatiently waiting for Android 4.3?
