When you think of well-known, popular Android devices, MSI isn’t exactly the first company to pop into your mind. Back in January, the company introduced the affordable budget-friendly Enjoy 71 tablet, but you’ve probably never heard of that either. At this year’s Computex event, during which we’ve already seen a host of new devices, MSI is in full swing. Just today, MSI has announced three new Android tablets. All with different screen sizes and designs, but one bares a striking resemblance to a tablet that most of us have come to know and loathe.
During Computex, MSI has announced three new Android tablets. The Primo 73 is a 7-inch device, while the Primo 81 has a slightly larger 7.85-inch display, and the Primo 93 is the biggest, coming in at 9.7-inch.
On the inside, the Primo 73 is packing some pretty low-end specifications. The 7-inch display comes in with a resolution of just 1024 x 600. Design-wise, it has a pretty clean build. The back houses just a camera, speaker, and MSI. On the inside, the Primo 73 is powered by a SoC AllWinner A20 chip, made up of a dual-core ARM Cortex A7 processor and ARM Mali 400 GPU, as well as 1GB of RAM. It has 8GB of storage and a microSD card slot.
Next, the Primo 81 has a slightly better 7.85-inch IPS display with a 1024 x 768 resolution. The panel is made by LG and is exactly the same as the display Apple uses with the iPad mini. The Primo 81 comes in at about 7.8mm thick and has a matte finish. Looking at it, especially from the front, you might mistake it for an iPad mini. It looks nearly identical in every aspect, right down to the FFC being in the same place. The device has HDMI, miniUSB, and a 3.5mm headphone ports. It’s powered by a quad-core Allwinner A315 processor, 1 GB of RAM, and a hefty 3500mAh battery. It’s also running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Unfortunately, however, we will not see it in the United States, according to MSI.
To round out MSI’s tablet lineup, the Primo 93 packs a 9.7-inch display with the same 1024 x 768 resolution. It packs a microSD and has a rubber finish around the edges. It is powered by an Allwinner A315 quad-core processor and Android 4.2, exactly like it’s smaller brother. It also packs 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, as well as a 6800mAh battery.
Sadly, however, MSI did not reveal any pricing or availability details for these devices.
If they come to the United States (or your respective country), would you be interested in a MSI tablet? Let us know down in the comments!
