According to a recent poll, Google still has a strong reputation among Americans. The Washington Post ran a poll and found out that about 83% of American adults have a favorable opinion of Google, and about 72% say the same for Apple with just 60% saying that for Facebook. The cool thing here is that The Washington Post has broken down the poll by Age. Ages 18-29, Google is up 72% over Apple’s 40%. Ages 30-64, Google is up 46% vs 33% of Apple. Finally, ages 65 and older, Google has a small lead of 27% to 25% for Apple.
Apple dropped from 81% to 71%, Facebook actually went up from 58% to 60% compared to last year.
It is rather surprising that Apple’s reputation has dropped compared to last year, but then again their profits have also dropped as well. Maybe if they release a “new” device it’ll go back up? The Washington Post also stated that the poll didn’t cover Facebook’s most popular age group 13-18. Which is probably why their numbers are so low. But Google is still the top dog here.
This poll was conducted from May 29th to June 2nd. Which was last week and this week. Which makes the numbers even more surprising since we are in the middle of Google I/O and WWDC. Apple’s developer conference takes place next week at Moscone Center. I would have thought a lot more people would be expecting some great stuff from Apple next week.
