The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 was released a couple months ago and has proven to be a great companion to those who prefer smaller tablets. Since the device’s initial launch and FCC passing last May, it has been all but confirmed that the device will be released on AT&T with 4G LTE connectivity. Today, AT&T themselves has confirmed that a 4G LTE version of the device will indeed be released on the network.
The device is exactly the same as the Wi-Fi version, so you will still get the quad-core Exynos 4412 processor along with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The Exynos is clocked at 1.6GHz and is paired with 2GB of RAM. With a 5MP rear-facing camera and a 1.3MP front-facing camera, the device is actually very well suited for media consumption. The only aspect that differs from the WiFi version is that AT&T’s device will only come in the 16GB variety instead of offering users the choice to upgrade to a 32GB model. Why AT&T made this choice is unclear but it is likely that the 32GB model with 4G LTE would be too expensive to appeal to the desired market.
The device offers an HD 720p display complimented by Samsung-specific features like multi-window mode. Thankfully, this particular feature seems to have been upgraded since the Galaxy Note 10.1 and the Galaxy Note 2.
This is not the first version of this device to gain a cellular antenna. There is an international version of this device that support 3G connectivity. The major difference is that the international version supports voice calling. This feature didn’t prove to be that useful because AT&T has stated that this variation of the device will not have that functionality. Again, this feature being left out isn’t a big deal as it would be incredibly awkward to actually use such a large device for voice calling.
AT&T has merely confirmed that the device exists but hasn’t really provided us with any additional information. The device is set to launch on AT&T in the coming weeks but unfortunately, there is no further information concerning a release date or price points.
