Sony is sending out press invites to an event on June 25th. The event will be in Germany, so I wouldn’t expect anything for the US coming out of this one. The headline of the invite reads “Lust auf mehr?” which is German for “you want more?” Which leads us to believe that this is the 6.4-inch device that we’ve seen rumored for Sony as of late.
We’ve been hearing a lot about this device, it’s codenamed Togari, and will have a 6.4-inch full HD display along with a quad-core Snapdragon processor and a 13MP camera on the back. It’ll also feature 2GB of RAM which seems to have become the norm these days. So we’re definitely expecting the Togari to make an appearance on June 25th. But when and where will it be available? I’d expect it not to be available in the US, initially. Similar to the Xperia Z which is just now starting to come to US carriers, like T-Mobile.
This week, Sony also announced the Xperia M and Xperia M Dual, which are two 4-inch Android 4.1 Jelly Bean devices that are going to be available next quarter for less than €250. So Sony might be running out of letters for their Xperia line. Maybe this will be the start of a new brand for Sony? Or will they possibly go to Xperia XL? Hmm so many questions here. Sony makes some great devices, it’s just pricing and availability which kills them.
How many of you would love to have a “phablet” (I really hate that word) from Sony? Is a 6.4-inch device just too big for most people? We’ll find out soon enough. We’ll be covering this event on June 25th so make sure you stop by to find out what Sony announces. Let us know in the comments below what you think about the Togari.
