Sony Unveils the Xperia SP and Xperia C Destined for China

Today, in addition to the Xperia Z Ultra and the Smartwatch 2, Sony also announced the Xperia SP M35t which is a TD-LTE-enabled variant of the Xperia SP for China. They also unveiled the Xperia C S39h which is a dual-SIM qHD 5-inch device headed for China as well. Dual-SIM devices are extremely popular over in China.

This new variant of the Xperia SP will be the same as the original, with the addition of the TD-LTE antenna. It will still have that 4.6-inch 720p display along with a customizable transparent LED strip which does stretch at the bottom of the device. It’s powered by the dual-core Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset (the same chipset said to power the X FON from Motorola) clocked at 1.7GHz and a 8MP camera.

Then there’s the Xperia C. Which is going to be a China Unicom exclusive and sport a 5-inch qHD display which is a 960×540 resolution. It’s going to be powered by the quad-core 1.2GHz MediaTek processor with a 8MP camera and the Exmor R sensor. It’ll also support dual-SIMs which is very popular over in China. Additionally the Xperia C will be available in White, Black and Purple on release day.

Both the Xperia SP and Xperia C are going to be running Android 4.1 – Jelly Bean. But there’s no word about availability or pricing just yet. It’s also not known whether we’ll see the Xperia C outside of China, but I highly doubt we’ll see it elsewhere.

How many of our readers in China are excited for either one of these phones? They look pretty good, aside from some of the specs. But then I’m used to all the flagships like the Galaxy S4, HTC One, Xperia Z, etc. Let us know what you think about these phones in the comments below.
