Everyone can have a sigh of relief now. Late last week we learned the specs of the new Moto X through a source of The Verge. One of the specs that stood out, and not in a good way, was the battery. It was said to be a 1500mAh battery. The Verge later retracted that and said the software said it was a 1500mAh battery. Well now thanks to @Evleaks, we’re seeing that the FCC Certification is showing a 2200mAh battery on board that is non-removable.
Earlier today, we saw some more pictures of the Moto X including the side profile of the device. To me it looks thin, but I don’t really care about thinness. So we can only wonder how big the battery actually is in the Moto X. Also whether it’ll be user replacable or not. According to @Evleaks the battery will be a 2200mAh and “internal/non-removable” which was tested for FCC certification. That sucks, but it’s definitely better than a 1500mAh battery inside.
The specs on the Moto X aren’t set to blow you away, they are going to blow you away with the features. But if this device is capable and has great battery life at the price points we’ve been hearing, it’s definitely going to sell well.
The Moto X is said to be customizable, but we don’t expect the specs to be customizable. We’ve heard that you’ll be able to customize the outside with different backplates, like wood and ceramic, along with some engravings. But I’d love to have the choice of having a larger battery. Kind of like the Droid Razr HD and the Droid Razr Maxx HD.
Either way we’ll know the truth on August 1st when Motorola officially unveils the Moto X. Hopefully we’ll see a 2200mAh battery or larger on this device and hopefully it will be a “hero” device. How many of you are excited for the Moto X?
