Last week, we reported that CyanogenMod was working on a new quick setting, that would be a part of the quick settings panel on CM 10.1. It had to do with the camera. Naturally, most of us thought that it would be a shortcut to the camera. Well it kind of is. You tap on the camera tile and the camera fires up right there. It’s actually rather cool. Though it is a bit hard to take nice pictures using that shortcut. Here’s how it works.
To add the Camera quick setting
- Go into Settings
- Tap on System
- Next, tap on Quick Settings Panel
- Tap on Tiles and Layout
- Tap the + sign and add the camera
- You can then rearrange the tiles to how you want it.
- Now you’ll notice in your dropdown shade in the quick settings part that the camera has been added.
To take pictures
- Tap on the Camera quick setting tile in the quick settings
- Now your viewfinder should be fired up.
- Just tap the camera tile again to take a picture
- That’s it.
Now to turn off the camera, just close the notification shade. Isn’t that freaking awesome? CyanogenMod always leaves me wondering what they might come up with next. Right now this is only available in the nightlies for CM 10.1. So it’s still pretty beta. But I’ve been using it for a few days now and it works really great. It takes some time to scale up your pictures in that small box in the notification drawer. But it does work the way it should. So now you can take pictures directly from your lock screen, opening the app, or by pulling down your notification shade, no matter where you are in the OS.
