You know that big ass phone that Sony announce not too long ago? Yeah that 6.44-inch Xperia Z Ultra. Well it appears that the Xperia Z Ultra is confirmed to be launching on September 12th, at least according to Unlocked Mobiles. They have placed a pre-order page up for the Sony Xperia Z Ultra, with launch details very close to what was expected. The phone is packing a 6.44-inch Triluminos display with a Snapdragon 800 processor and Android 4.2. It’ll be available on September 12. Pricing starts at £599.98 inc VAT and £499.98 ex VAT. That’s about $915 USD and $762 USD respectively. Man that’s an expensive phone.
The Xperia Z Ultra had me really excited until I remembered how Sony prices their devices, and how quickly they bring them into the US. I mean the Xperia Z just launched on T-Mobile, and it was announced back at CES in January. I’m still going to cross my fingers and hope that Sony can bring this device to at least one US carrier, as it’s a pretty nice looking device and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. Talk about a beast.
Negri Electronics has also stated that they have the Xperia Z Ultra in purple and white starting at $799 USD. Once more, they have them in stock right now. So you won’t have to wait until September 12th. If you’re looking to get your hands on the biggest phone we’ve seen so far, then you’ll want to head over to Negri Electronics and throw about $800 at Sony’s latest beast.
I’m still excited for the Xperia Z Ultra as it’s really the first device from Sony to have specs ahead of the competition. When they announced the Xperia Z in January, it had a Snapdragon S4 Pro, which a few hours later Qualcomm had their keynote in which they made that chip obsolete by announcing the Snapdragon 600 and 800. So I hope Sony’s reading this, please bring the Xperia Z Ultra to the US on some carriers. I can almost guarantee you’ll sell a ton of these!
