CyanogenMod 10.1.1 Rolling Out Now

Today, The CyanogenMod team is announcing the roll out of CyanogenMod 10.1.1. This is the follow-up stable release to CyanogenMod 10.1.0 which was released a few weeks ago. This new stable build doesn’t carry much in terms of new features. But it does address a few bugs and exploits:

  • Bug 8219321 aka “MasterKey” exploit (also patched in CM 7 and CM 9 source)

  • CVE-2013-2094 (Linux kernel exploit)

  • CVE-2013-2596 (Qualcomm-specific exploit)

  • CVE-2013-2597 (Qualcomm-specific exploit)

  • General device bug-fixes

So as you can see, this is mostly a security release for the CyanogenMod team. So the secure messaging and camera quick setting features are not part of it. Which I wouldn’t expect them to come to a stable build for a little while. Since they are both still very beta. Right now the builds are heading to their download site, get.cm right now. At the time of writing this only a few devices have the CM 10.1.1 release including the Galaxy S, HTC One X, Epic 4G, LG Optimus G, Galaxy S3 (Verizon, US Cellular, T-Mobile, MetroPCS, Sprint, and AT&T), Nexus S 4G, and more. So the updates are rolling out pretty quickly.

CyanogenMod encourages all users of CyanogenMod 10.1.0.x to upgrade to this release, due to all the security fixes in this release. It’s always a good idea to update to the latest stable build of any software. Due to security issues, exploits, bugs, etc. I’ll be updating my Nexus 4 later today to CyanogenMod 10.1.1, when it’s available. Hopefully it’s a bit more stable than the last build was. But we’ll find out pretty soon.

CyanogenMod is such a popular ROM, mostly because it supports over 250 devices. But how many of you use a different ROM on your phone or tablet? Let us know in the comments down below, what ROM you prefer on your Android device.
