As of today, the new Nexus 7 (or Nexus 7 (2013)) is only available in the US. So this is all a report or rumor, not yet confirmed. We do know that the new Nexus 7 in the US supports LTE on Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile. It appears that the Nexus 7 coming to Europe will not feature LTE. Could we be seeing another HSPA+ only Nexus 7 or just Wi-Fi only?
The new Nexus 7 is due to arrive in other countries very soon. It was kind of confirmed by the new Nexus 7’s specs page, which lists LTE bands for the upcoming European version of the new Nexus 7. But now that listing has been updated and appears that the Nexus 7 will only support HSPA+ for Europe, unfortunately. Now we’re going to say again, to treat this with a grain of salt as this isn’t quite confirmed yet. But we do know that a Nexus 7 with mobile data is coming to Europe. Also, as far as I know (which I’m not from Europe so I don’t know much about the networks there), only Everything Everywhere has LTE. While a few others are slowly rolling it out. Of course, I could be completely wrong here.
This could simply be Google correcting a typo made originally by the company. So I’d say don’t panic until the Nexus 7 is indeed available in Europe. Which we’re hearing won’t be until early September. The LTE Nexus 7 isn’t even available in the US yet, and is slated to be available in the “coming weeks”.
In all actuality this is still a bit disappointing for our European readers that were hoping to get their hands on an LTE Nexus 7. I’m sure you can get it from the US, but it won’t be cheap. Also it may not work on the bands that are needed in Europe. At least our European friends will have a HSPA+ version and not be stuck with just Wi-Fi only.
