So you remember back at Google I/O in May when Google showed off the new, redesigned, version of Google Play? Well two months later (to the exact date 5/15 to 7/15) Google has finally launched the new redesigned version of Google Play. I’ve only been checking it out for a few minutes, but man is it fast, fluid and awesome.
The new Play Store uses the card UI, which I’m very much a fan of. It has all the same great features we know and love from the Android version of Google Play, including being able to view your apps by simply clicking on Apps, then ‘My Apps’. It is just so slick, I’ll try and not repeat that again throughout this article, but it is pretty amazing.
Even the Devices section of Google Play is looking spiffy. As you can see from the image above, you see the Nexus section first, then below it are the two Google Play Edition devices (Galaxy S4 and HTC One) along with the Chromebooks. I’m hoping we’ll see even more available soon.
What is also very cool, at least too me is that the navigation is fixed on the webpage. So scrolling down the page, you’re navigation is still where it always should be. Additionally, at the Play Store’s home page or main page, you see Apps, Movies & TV, Music, Books, Magazines, Devices, along with My wishlist, Redeem Gift card, buy gift card and buy Google Play credit. I honestly can’t say enough great things about the new Play Store. It’s great to see that you can access your wishlist from the web now. I’m not sure if you could do that before or not, and if you could, feel free to go and correct me in the comments below.
Let us know what you think about the new version of Google Play on the web, and I’ll be over in the store checking everything out.
