Let’s be honest here – how many of you even own a digital camera now? I do, and I love it but then, I have a vested interest in photography. For those looking for quick snaps and to capture the moment, smartphone cameras are more than adequate – and that’s fine. In the last 2 years or so I’ve noticed a vast increase of people taking photos of tourist landmarks or holiday snaps exclusively with their smartphone. I laugh, but then I remember how good smartphone cameras have become. This leads me to Muku Labs’ “Shuttr”, which is just as you might imagine, a remote shutter for your smartphone, that connects to your device over Bluetooth.
Hong Kong engineer Kevin Leung is the brain behind Shuttr, and he wanted to create a shutter release to make it easier than ever to take snapshots and photos properly, anywhere. When Leung was growing up, a camera was a luxury item and so being able to take photos all the time simply wasn’t possible. Now though, we can take photos whenever, wherever and with whomever – it’s brilliant. This is especially great for parents with kids growing up, in the digital age there’s not really any excuse to lose photos and so holding on to memories is easier than ever.
Shuttr is a small shutter release that can be fitted to your keys, doesn’t require a special camera app and is designed to make it easy for you to be the photo at the same time, it makes it easy to take video on your own, take a photo of you and the little one or send photos of yourself to family and friends overseas. The Kickstarter campaign has already reached its modest goal of $10,000 in funding and hopefully we should see something of a retail release of this little guy soon.
I can think of some great uses for Shuttr, but what about you guys? What would you use Shuttr for?
