It’s summer time. This is when you spend most of your time outdoors. So why not have a few wireless, portable speakers out there so you can listen to Google Play All Access, Pandora, Spotify or watch movies on Netflix and TV shows on Hulu+? There are many Bluetooth speakers out there, but many have sub-par sound quality. Maybe that’s just me. I’ve reviewed a few different Bluetooth Speakers in the past. Including the Supertooth Disco Twins, and the Braven BRV-1. In my opinion, the Hive speaker from Kitsound blows those out of the water.
The Hive speaker is named the hive because of the design, which I’m sure you could tell. On the right side you have your AUX port, on/off switch and micro USB port to charge the speaker. On the top you have your Bluetooth and volume rocker. If you want the speaker to become visible for devices to connect too, all you have to do is hold down the Bluetooth button for a few seconds. It can remember a few devices without having to repair any connections. It was able to connect to 3 devices without needing to be re-paired.
The bass sound on this speaker is really nice, and so is the build quality. It’s nice and sleek and the feet on the bottom are a bit sticky so that the speaker won’t slide off the edge of your desk or table while you’re using it. The sound coming out of this speaker is amazing. I’ve been using it all week with Google Play Music and Netflix and it works great. As far as battery life is concerned, I saw at least 8 hours of use before it died. Which is pretty good if you ask me. It’s not rugged or waterproof like the Braven BRV-1 but it can still take a bit of a beating. Not that you’ll want to drop your speaker in a pool anyways.
