Samsung and HTC Are "reviewing" Android 4.3 Update Plans

As usual, when Google announces a new version of Android. Nexus users get excited and start checking for software updates, while those with other phones like the Galaxy S4 or HTC One begin wondering when they’ll get the update. It’s just like when Google announced Android 4.2 last fall and Android 4.1 last summer.

TechRadar is reporting this afternoon, that both Samsung and HTC are “reviewing” Android 4.3 and deciding which devices will get updated and when. Now we’ve heard some rumors that the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 would skip Android 4.2 and go straight to Android 4.3. We’ve also heard that the HTC One on Cincinnati Bell here in the US would skip Android 4.2.2 and head straight to Android 4.3. Now we don’t know how true that is at this point. But we are fairly certain that both OEMs have had the Android 4.3 source code for a few weeks or months now. So hopefully we’ll see quickly updates from these two and other manufacturers.

HTC’s Senior Global Online Communications Manager, Jeff Gordon said “We’re reviewing Android 4.3 to see how this update fits into our plans.” While Samsung UK said “Samsung UK will confirm upgrade plans to Android 4.3 to selected Galaxy devices in the coming months.”We are almost certain that every device that has Android 4.2 will be updated to Android 4.3 at some point. And definitely all of the flagships like the HTC One, Butterfly S, and for Samsung the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S4 Active, Galaxy Note 2, and Galaxy S3, along with some other devices that aren’t as popular. As soon as we know which ones we’ll be sure to let you know.

It’s still rather disappointing that both OEMs declined to say which devices will definitely get the update. And we’re left speculating what will happen. Both the Galaxy S4 and HTC One are Google Play Edition devices, so we’re almost 100% confident that they will see updates very soon to Android 4.3. Probably shortly after the Google Play Edition variants see their updates.

How many of you are hoping your device gets updated to Android 4.3 before the end of 2013? Let us know in the comments below.
