We’ve been hearing a lot about the Xperia Honami lately. This is supposedly going to be Sony’s answer to the Galaxy S4 Zoom, except it’s keeping great specs. The Honami is supposedly going to sport a 5-inch 1080p display, running on a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor. It’s also sporting a 20-megapixel camera. There are also reports that the Xperia Honami is going to be water and dust proof. Much like the Xperia Z, Xperia Tablet Z and the Xperia Z Ultra which as announced just last week.
So why is Sony announcing the Honami at a separate event just a week after their Xperia Z Ultra event? Beats me. Perhaps they wanted a separate event for the Xperia Honami? Who knows at this point. But the Xperia Honami is said to use the same design language as the Xperia Z and it’s variants. Which isn’t a bad looking device at all.
Lately, Sony has really been working hard to release devices with current specs, to ensure that their devices are future proof. The Xperia Z was announced the day before the Snapdragon 600 and 800 processors were announced by Qualcomm over at CES back in January. That really stunned the Japanese manufacturer and their flagship device. Of course, not bringing the Xperia Z to the US on a carrier for about 6 months didn’t help much either.
If the Xperia Honami is anything like the Xperia Z, but with a much bigger and better camera, then it’s going to be one of the best devices on the market. The only thing is them bringing the Xperia Honami to the US. Which probably won’t happen but we can still hope right? Sony has some great hardware, and their custom user interface is really nice as well. But their biggest problem is bringing the device to the US within a reasonable amount of time. We’re desperately hoping it happens soon.
