The Moto X still hasn’t been announced yet. It’ll be announced on Thursday. But we heard earlier this week that all carriers were on board except for T-Mobile. Now that could all be changing, or Motorola may just released an unlocked version that’s compatible with T-Mobile. We’ve already seen the Moto X pass through the FCC for Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and US Cellular. We expect to get more information on Thursday from their event in NYC.
Today, there is another variant of the Moto X passing through the FCC, and even got approval. This one is compatible with T-Mobile’s networks. So that includes AWS HSPA+ and LTE, which also includes bands 2 and 17. That alone makes it compatible with AT&T as well. So this almost confirms that if T-Mobile doesn’t jump on board to offer the device, that T-Mobile customers, like myself, will be able to grab the device from Motorola and pop in their SIM card just like a Nexus device.
It’s exciting to see that T-Mobile customers won’t be left out even if magenta doesn’t carry the device. Which that in of itself surprises me. But then again, T-Mobile really never had any Motorola devices, at least that I can remember. They are mostly all Samsung, HTC, and Huawei devices over there.
The Moto X is supposedly going to feature a dual-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor clocked at 1.7GHz. Yes, that’s the dual-core version of the processor in the Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and HTC Droid DNA. So it’s a bit old, not to mention the dual-core part. It’ll also have 2GB of RAM, 16GB and 32GB options along with a 720p display. Although we’ve gotten conflicting reports of the display size. The Moto X will also be heavily optimized when it comes to software. To the point where last year’s specs could actually outperform this year’s specs on other flagships like the Galaxy S4, and HTC One.
