So the Nexus 7 is now official. It’s packing quite a bit of upgraded specs including a smaller side bezel. It has a 1920×1200 resolution 7-inch display. It’s being powered by the Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, yes that’s the same processor that’s in the Nexus 4. Along with 2GB of RAM and has 16GB and 32GB of internal storage. They are also making an LTE model which will be available sometime in August. What is most interesting is that they are creating one LTE model that will work on all three networks. That’s Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile. So the Nexus 7 LTE is unlocked and does come with plenty of LTE bands. But it’s nice to see that one device will work on all three carriers instead of having three different LTE models for the US. Good job Google!
Yesteday, after the announcement. We did a few comparison posts comparing the Nexus 7 to the previous generation Nexus 7 and a few of the other similarly sized tablets available now. We compared it to the Galaxy Note 8.0 and the Lenovo IdeaTab A1000, which I’m working on reviewing now, all three hit different price points and all three have their flaws as we said in the post. But it’s great to see great tablets selling for low prices.
Which leads us to today’s burning question, well this week’s burning question. Are you going to buy the new Nexus 7? Or do you think that it’s not enough of an upgrade? Personally, I’m waiting on the new Nexus 10 to upgrade my original Nexus 7. I use my tablet for media consumption mostly, and the bigger screen and better resolution is going to be more of what I want. Especially with yesterday’s news coming from Sundar Pichai, that Samsung and Google are working on a Nexus 10 to be released this fall, I’m definitely going to wait and jump on that one when it’s available.
So let us know in the comments below or in the poll below if you’ll be upgrading or buying your first tablet.
