Honestly, I didn’t even notice that there were no Moto X rumors making the rounds yesterday. That’s probably due to the Google event yesterday morning. Google announced their Chromecast event, Android 4.3 and the Nexus 7. So now we’re heading back to normal and seeing a ton of Moto X rumors, building up the hype for their event on August 1st.
Today’s rumors are coming from Taylor Wimberly, who is the former owner of Android and Me, and has been one of the top leakers of the Moto X. And for the most part he’s been spot on with what the Moto X will be doing. Now according to Wimberly, the source of his reports are someone at Motorola. The information is probably being leaked on purpose. Which sounds very plausible since their event is next Thursday and Motorola wants to build hype for their device.
Here’s the latest set of rumors from Mr Wimberly:
- Moto Magic Glass:Moto X features something called Moto Magic Glass. This is a single sheet of Gorilla Glass which is molded to a special polymer to make a continuous surface that wraps around the entire front and edges of the device. There is zero gap with the back.
- Dual-LTE MIMO Smart Antennas: Moto X features Dual LTE MIMO Smart Antennas, which should deliver the best 4G LTE performance (faster data speeds and better reception). Most OEMs support 4G technologies on the same antenna as 2G/3G, but Moto will have 2 antennas dedicated to 4G LTE. There will be 5 antennas inside Moto X: 4G main, 4G diversity, 2G/3G main, GPS, and BT/WiFi. Please +1 or share for more moto goodies.
- Google Smartwatch/Moto xWATCH: Did some digging on that “Google Watch.” Turns out it was called the Moto xWATCH and scheduled to launch same time as moto x. Don’t know if it was delayed or had a name change, but the two products definitely integrate in some interesting ways for device authentication. Guess we find out on August 1st.
We’ll be expecting more and more rumors, leaks and reports about the Moto X between now and next Thursday. So you’ll want to stay tuned to Android Headlines. I’m most excited for the dual-LTE antennas. Since it will provide better 4G LTE performance and hopefully better reception.
