Bell Offering Student “discounts”

It’s back-to-school season and Bell is offering students $5 off select rate plans. Which you can see in the image above. It’s not much of a discount, but it’s still $5, that’s almost enough for lunch.

Prime Minister Wants Wireless Competition?

The Prime Minister of Canada, Stephen Harper, said this week that he’d like to see competition in the wireless industry in Canada. As most of you know, the ‘big 3’ basically control the wireless industry. Looks like that might be changing soon.

Mobilicity Signs “Exclusive Gold Dealer” with Uniserve

This week, Mobilicity signed an “exclusive gold dealer” agreement with Uniserve. It’s starting new SMB marketing channel as well. Mobilicity is one of the smaller carriers in Canada. In fact, it’s the one that Verizon has had it’s eyes on for quite some time.

Sasktel Launching the Galaxy Mega 6.3

This week, we learned that one of the larger phones on the market, the Galaxy Mega 6.3, would be making it’s way to Canada by way of Sasktel. The launch date is reportedly August 29th, so we’ll keep an eye out for it next week.

HTC One Making its way to WIND Mobile

The HTC One isn’t quite on every carrier, but it’s about to hit another Canadian carrier. It’ll be launching on WIND Mobile very soon. It’s also part of WIND’s all-in unlimited talk, text and data back-to-school promo for just $33/month. Not a bad deal for a great phone.

Fido adding increases to their “Smart Plans”

This week, Fido announced that they are increasing the prices of their smart plans. So they will now be starting at just $45/month. Of course, the $65/month plan is the better one since it’s unlimited calling and 1GB of data. But it’s still an increase. You can check out the plans here.
