And so, it begins. The invasion of every flagship device in whatever color it is you want. Okay, so it’s nowhere near that bad but, it is starting to get a little out of hand. Not because manufacturers like HTC and Samsung shipping their devices in different colors is a bad thing; choice is good. More so because exclusivity is bad. While the Glamour Red version of the HTC One is currently exclusive to Phones 4U in the UK, it’s coming to Sprint in the US and now, it looks like Verizon is going to get their own exclusive color as well.
PhoneArena have been tipped off to the existence of a Blue HTC One, and that it’s going to be exclusive to Big Red in the States. According to their tipster, the device has been spotted in Verizon’s inventory with an SKU of HTC6500LVWBLU and a short and sweet description of “HTC One in Blue”. The above image is what AndroidPit think a Blue HTC One might look like.
We’ve got no idea just what tinge of Blue Verizon will be using but, we just hope it’s not Baby Blue. We’re not marketing experts or anything but, we doubt a Baby Blue smartphone is going to be selling all that well. We’re interested to see if HTC have any more color combinations up their sleeves but, in the same breath we’d really wish they let everyone have a choice of color, and not keep on building carrier exclusives.
PhoneArena’s tipster had a little more info on a launch date and while there’s definite date, they passed along the info that the device will definitely be launching in August. As for the price? That’s still up in the air right now, but we doubt Verizon and HTC will charge $199 on contract for a device – that is certainly worth the price – that’s been on shelves for some time now. As we found in our review, the One is a truly great device. The question is are there any Verizon die-hards still waiting for the One, or have they just bought a Galaxy S4 instead?
