We all know that HTC has been having trouble lately. In fact, we even heard last week that the company might be for sale. But the company quickly shut that rumor down. Now, Clove UK has put up the HTC Fetch for pre-order on their site for around $40 USD. The HTC Fetch is a device that is pretty simple, it basically helps you find your keys when you’ve lost them. And that’s about it.
HTC had trademarked the “HTC Fetch” earlier this year, which sounded like an accessory. We no know that is exactly what the HTC Fetch is. It’s essentially a locator tag that you can put on your key ring with will help you find your keys when you’ve lost them. The HTC Fetch runs on a single CR2032 battery, it also includes a remote camera shutter button. So far there’s no word on whether the accessory will hit other markets like the US. But at this point, I don’t see why it wouldn’t.
The HTC Fetch (BL-A100) showed up on Clove UK’s website for pre-order and has a tiny image with a relatively small description as well. It doesn’t seem to be anything spectacular, but if you’re always losing your keys it’ll probably be just what you need. There’s no GPS inside, so it only works so well. We haven’t seen it pop up on any other retailers websites yet, but we’ll keep an eye out for that.
I’m not sure how popular the HTC Fetch will be, I’d almost rather just use a NFC tag to accomplish this. Which I do currently. It’s also a lot cheaper than the HTC Fetch. This accessory does have Bluetooth 4.0 which is always great. We have no idea if it’ll work worldwide or if it’ll need a HTC smartphone to be able to work. There’s also no release date from Clove UK just yet. So this leaves quite a bit of questions that we’d like to see answered soon. I’m sure HTC has more of the answers than Clove UK does at this point.
How many of you would be interested in picking up the HTC Fetch? Let us know in the comments down below. It definitely looks interesting, but I’m not sure how useful it would be, especially when compared to other products like NFC tags.
