LG G2 Officially Heading North to Canada

The LG G2 was announced last week and received rather mixed reactions. Most people loved the hardware but weren’t too impressed with the software. Which seems to be LG’s biggest problem right now. Which is why the Nexus 4 sold so well for LG and Google. We already knew that the G2 was making it’s way to all the carriers in the US starting in September, and of course Verizon gets the exclusive on Wireless Charging. Now we’re learning that it’s coming to Canada via Rogers, Bell TELUS, Wind Mobile, Videotron and Sasktel. Is that enough carriers for our Canadian friends?

So far there are no specific dates given just yet, but we’re told that they will be available “this fall” so let’s see if any of the carriers take their time launching the device, like Verizon typically does in the US. It’ll be available in two colors as well. The black and white. Thank goodness they don’t have some crazy names for those colors like Stealth Black or White frost that HTC and Samsung have respectively.

As far as the specs go, the G2 is featuring a 5.2-inch 1080p display, with power and volume rocker on the back, LTE connectivity, Snapdragon 800 clocked at 2.26GHz, 13MP camera on the back with a 2MP on the front. 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and a hefty 3000mAh battery. When the G2 launches it’ll be on Android 4.2.2 along with the Optimus UI which isn’t the prettiest manufacturer skin out there, but we’re sure it’ll get an update to Android 4.3 shortly after.

It’s not apparent whether Canada will launch the G2 before the US, but we do know that it’s launching in both countries this fall, and will be available on 100 different carriers in the next three months. Which is a pretty fast rollout for LG. That’s something that Samsung normally does with their flagships. Nice to see LG learning how to get stuff done.

How many of our Canadian friends are planning on picking up the G2 this fall? Let us know in the comments below which carrier you’re planning to pick it up from.
