Here’s a new report stating that the Moto X is launching on all carriers on August 23rd. Which is just a few weeks away. This report is also stating that the MotoMaker will be exclusive to AT&T, which we already knew about. When Motorola unveiled the device last week, a big question we had was when would it be available? Since Motorola didn’t seem to really know when it would be launched. They just kept saying late August or early September.
Additionally, Ad Age is reporting that the Moto X is launching on August 23rd on AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint. Which we’ve been hearing August 23rd for Verizon for a few weeks now, so this makes perfect since. Getting all the carriers to launch the same device on the same day is definitely hard, so if this turns out to be true it’s going to mean great things for Motorola.
This report does say that T-Mobile will start selling the Moto X on August 23rd, but as Motorola already confirmed last week, T-Mobile won’t be selling the device in stores. You’ll be buying it directly from Motorola. Which is perfectly fine with me. But for those that wanted to take advantage of JUMP, you won’t be able to with the Moto X. Pricing is still sitting at $199/249 for the 16GB and 32GB models with a 2-year contract. We’re going to assume that Motorola will sell the T-Mobile version at full price and possibly with the old 2-year contracts which some third-party retailers are still selling.
The Moto X is featuring a 4.7-inch 720p AMOLED display, with a dual-core 1.7GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro processor which also uses Motorola’s X8 Mobile Computing System. Along with 2GB of RAM, a 10MP ClearPixel camera, 2MP front-facing camera, Android 4.2.2, and a 2200mAh battery. Motorola is promising a full day of battery. Motorola also said that a full day is 24 hours. So that’s some great battery life there.
