HP have been a name that’s best known for laptops and office computers but, in the last year or so they’ve really tried to carve out their little corner of the Android market. With devices like the Slate 7, it wasn’t looking good for HP but, they soon switched gears. With the Slatebook x2, they introduced a hybrid laptop/Android tablet that was well received to a point. Thanks to the Tegra 4 in HP’s latest tablet, it looks like they’re realizing that the way for them to achieve success is by bringing the best. With the Nexus 7, Google and ASUS have the budget market all sewn up, pretty much.
The folks over at VR-Zone have discovered a benchmark filing for a new device from HP with the name of “Bodhi”. It’s not clear if the device is a smartphone or tablet but, the benchmark listing does tell us that it’s running Android 4.2.2 and has a display resolution of 1600 x 1168.
The GFXBench listing also goes on to show us that this device scored a little higher than the Slatebook x2 as well:
It’s this that makes us think that the “Bodhi” is going to be a Tegra 4 device. Whether or not the “Bodhi” is going to be a smartphone or a tablet is still up in the air but, it’s beginning to look like HP is going to have something pretty great to offer this holiday season. The real question remains though, can HP really hope to compete in the Android market?
It’s crowded already and as other PC stalwarts like Lenovo have learnt, it’s not easy to break into the Android market and it’s even harder to do so in the US, which is arguably Android’s most important market. We’ll hopefully have some more info on the this device in the coming weeks so be sure to keep it locked to Android Headlines. In the meantime, let us know in the comments if you’d buy an HP Android phone.
