Paranoid Android Releases 3.97 with Halo 2.0!

Arguably the best custom ROM out there right now, in terms of features, is Paranoid Android. CyanogenMod is one of the best because they support so many devices (250+ and counting), but Paranoid Android is adding in a ton of cool features, like Halo which is built off of Chat Heads from Facebook, Per App Colors, tablet and hybrid mode and so much more.

Over the weekend, the Paranoid Android team released version 3.97 of their ROM which also brings in Halo 2.0.

PA 3.97 — HALO 2.0 —

First public preview. This opens up a whole new spectrum and this may even be interesting for plug-ins and add-ons.
HALO shows the actual notifications now, not just a lame text. The coolest thing, it supports multitouch so you can go in there and interact with these notifications while you task. It’s easier than you may think, in the worst case you use two hands or don’t interact – just lift the finger as always and you get your floating window.
There are tons of improvements and details in this one, too many to list right now.
This is a major shift from the original code-base so screw-ups could happen. This was only tested on Mako (Nexus 4 in default size). If maintainers build this for other devices, see if it works for you please.
Should we see anything bad we’ll heal it asap as always.

There’s also a video down below of how Halo 2.0 works. Man it works pretty sweet. Remember that Paranoid Android only officially supports the Nexus family and the Oppo Find 5. It’s available for other devices as unofficial builds. Which means those are going to take longer to become available.

The new builds are already available, and there’s also a new Gapps, so make sure you’ve got the latest so you don’t run into any problems. You also need to make sure you have the Gapps for Paranoid Android as the standard AOSP Gapps will cause you problems.

How many of our readers out there are sporting Paranoid Android on their devices? How are you liking the 3.97 build? Let us know in the comments below.
