Samsung's Galaxy Gear Smartwatch Specs Leak Again; 10 Hours of Battery, 1GB of RAM, 4MP Camera, 8GB/16GB of Storage and More

Seems like everyday we are talking about the Galaxy Gear, which is the name of Samsung’s new smartwatch that they’ll be showing off at their Unpacked event next week. We’ve heard so much about this smartwatch that could be true and plenty that won’t be true. But that’s normal for the lead up to any product announcement. This new smartwatch from Samsung is said to be running on Android, no surprise there. However we do have some new specs for this thing.

The Galaxy Gear is said to be marketed towards “young trend setters” which sounds about right and will also launch in several color options. Previously, we had heard that the Galaxy Gear would feature a 2.5-inch OLED full color display with a 320×320 resolution. Powered by a dual-core 1.5GHz Exynos 4212 processor, accelerometer, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, and it would also be a “smartphone companion” product, likely only compatible with Galaxy devices.

However, today there’s a new report coming out of AmongTech, which has their sources agreeing with the specs listed above and also notes that the Galaxy Gear would also feature 10 hours of battery life or more, also coming with a 4MP camera that can capture 720p videos, embedded speakers on the watch strap. It’ll also run Android Jelly Bean (hopefully not Android 4.1) along with 1GB of RAM and 8GB and 16GB models.

As expected, there’s still no indication on price or availability. We are assuming it’ll be available in October, or possibly the same time as the Galaxy Note 3. As far as pricing goes, we’re hoping it’ll be around $100. Although, somehow I think Samsung might launch the Galaxy Gear with the Galaxy Note 3 and possibly make the Galaxy Gear cheaper if you buy it with the Galaxy Note 3. It would make sense right?

So if these specs are true, and if it does work with any smartphone, would you buy one? Given the price is right. I’m not entirely sure that I would use it, but let us know what you think in the comments down below.
