Samsung's Smartwatch Rumored to Come with an Exynos 4212 Processor, 1GB of RAM, 320×320 AMOLED Display and More

As we get closer to the September 4th Samsung event in Berlin, we’re hearing more and more crazy rumors about what Samsung is actually going to announce. The Galaxy Gear is rumored to be the Samsung smartwatch and announced on September 4th. According to a new patent filing registered back in May, there’s a new device with the model number SM-V700 and it includes a concept of a watch.

Sammobile has some insiders that are confirming that the smartwatch is being unveiled at Samsungs UNPACKED Episode 2 in Berlin. Their tipster also has some specs for the new Galaxy Gear:

CPU: Samsung Exynos 4212 dual core 1.5GHz
GPU: ARM Mali-400 MP4
RAM: 1GB
Display: 320—320 (3cm—3cm – 1.67-inches) AMOLED (not sure if it’s flexible)
Camera: 2 Megapixel
Connectivity: Bluetooth, NFC

That might be a bit overkill for a smartwatch. But it’ll definitely be powerful. I just wonder how well it’s going to compete against other smartwatches out there like the Pebble and Sony’s smartwatch. It’ll also be interesting to see how great the interface for the smartwatch is going to be. Hopefully it’s very easy to use and not as bad looking as some other skins we’ve seen out there.

As we always say, be sure to take this information with a pinch of salt. As they are not confirmed and should be treated as a rumor, since it really is. We’ll keep digging for more information about the Galaxy Gear, but from what we’ve heard already, it’ll only be compatible with Galaxy devices, which is a huge downfall for a smartwatch. But if you’re in Samsung’s shoes, it’s a great idea. Especially if you want to get more people in your ecosystem.

So how many of you are anxious to see how this smartwatch works out for Samsung? I think I’m a bit more interested in the rumored Google smartwatch, since I’m sure it’ll work with any Android phone, although I’d probably never use it. How many of you would buy a smartwatch? Would you actually use it? Let us know your thoughts in the comments down below.
