On Thursday, Shazam announced a new update to their Android app. Bringing it to version 4.0. As always when apps hit a big version number, it’s got a pretty big changelog and lots of new features. Shazam has already been made into a universal app so it works great on tablets and on phones. In stead of having the phone version stretched out for the tablets.
Shazam notes that when you update or install the new version of the app you’ll get a few new features like:
Shazam’s core features for music – now in a beautiful new design – including: information about the song and artist, music videos, lyrics, sharing on social networks, and more.
An exciting new UI featuring an updated listening screen. Shazam has replaced the “sweep” action with an updated blue Shazam dial that responds to music;
Improved album artwork. Now, when looking at new tag results for music or TV ads or shows, the artwork is larger and more engaging, and and makes it easy for people to listen to a sample of the music and purchase the track or album from Amazon;
Optimization for Android tablet devices, giving users a fantastic new full-screen interface to make discovery a more fun and engaging experience.
Shazam has also recently made it easier to buy music from Amazon via Shazam, on Android devices. Which gives users an easy and fast solution for downloading and enjoying their favorite tracks directly from their device. If you on’t have the Amazon MP3 app on your device, you’ll be directed to a mobile-optimized HTML5 experience by Amazon. I’ve used it before, and it’s a really nice mobile website, surprisingly.
This Shazam update is available now on Google Play, and I have to say the new interface looks beautiful, especially with the cards UI and the holo interface as well. If you’re a fan of the interface on apps like Google Play Music, or Google Now, then you’re going to love the UI on the new version of Shazam.
How many of you still use Shazam?
