If there is one thing everyone loves about Siri, its her snide comments about certain topics. I had a field day when I found out how she responds to “How much wood, would a woodchuck chuck, if a woodchuck could chuck wood?”. Well I recently heard Siri had some choice responses to the Google Glass command, “Ok Glass”. I also heard that she would make more comments if done on a device running iOS 7. So I grabbed a developer iPod I have lying around and here are the results (In no particular order). Also enjoy the screenshots at the end of the article.
- Very funny, I mean, not “ha-ha,” but funny.
- I’m not Glass. And I’m just fine with that.
- Stop trying to strap me to your forehead. It won’t work
- Just so you know, I don’t do anything when you blink at me.
- I think that glass is half empty.
- Glass? I think you’ve got the wrong assistant.
Oh, good times, but its these types of comments that fuels the fire in an already heated fight between Siri, Google Now and their users. I actually hesitated to get into this topic due to the strong feelings the two opposing parties feel for their voice assistant, however, this is Android Headlines so here we go. Since Siri’s release Google has been playing catch-up, the recognition, the versatility Siri offered upon the release of the iPhone 4s was an amazing leap for the smart phone world. I, myself, had been searching for an app since Siri’s release that came anywhere close to its usefulness. A while back, before Google Now was really any good, I found utter which gave me much-needed, and desired features. However it stayed in beta forever (I’m not sure if its even out now) and many features didn’t work correctly, or at all, and the truly useful features required root to use. However with the addition of being able to call and text with Google Now, play music from your device, and a whole slew of other features, I abandoned utter in exchange for Google Now. Also with the cards feature, and the ability to translate phrases to different languages (2 operations in a long list that Siri cannot perform), it seems that Google Now has overtaken Siri. Which may be the reason for Siri’s comments in regards to Google Glass. Without a significant update in iOS 7, Siri is going to continue to fall behind Google Now in terms of features and abilities. Either way, its the small things like this that bring enjoyment to my day!
