Android News Canada 9/20/13: 700Mhz Spectrum Auction, Galaxy S4 Mini, LG G2, WIND and More

Rogers Posts Pre-Orders for LG G2, Galaxy Note 3 and Lumia 1020

This week, Rogers started pre-orders for 3 different flagship phones. That’s the LG G2, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the Nokia Lumia 1020. They are also offering up free cases to go along with these pre-orders which is great. The LG G2 is running at about $179 on contract, and no pricing yet on the price of the Note 3.

AT&T Still Debating Entering Canada

AT&T and Verizon have both thought about expanding into Canada. Verizon has come out and said no, they are not planning to head North. But AT&T on the other hand is still contemplating the decision. They’ve entered the spectrum auction that’s taking place in January, so things might get a bit interesting.

LG G2 Coming soon to Sasktel

The LG G2 is coming soon to Sasktel and will be selling for $600 outright, with no contract. It’ll be $179 on a 2-year contract and $549.99 on a 1-year contract. Not a bad price, for an excellent device.

Bell Cuts some US Roaming Rates

Since Canada and the US are so close, many of us think of Canada as another state (at least I do). So I’m sure many of you head across the border often. Well Bell has just cut some of the roaming rates by 50%. Which is great news.

The $25 US 30-day Travel Bundle includes:
– 50 talk minutes
– 50 MB of data
– 200 sent text messages
– Unlimited incoming text messages
– $0.25 per additional min.
– $0.50 per additional MB
– $0.15 per additional text message

WIND and Eastlink joining the 700Mhz Spectrum Auction in January

In addition to AT&T, and many other big players, WIND and Eastlink are also joining the spectrum auction for the 700Mhz spectrum come January. We also expect the Big 3 to join as well.

Galaxy S4 Mini Coming to Canada Next Month

Those of you that don’t want a big phone might be in luck. The Galaxy S4 Mini, which is a 4.3-inch device is coming to Canada in October. At this point, the only carrier that’s confirmed to be carrying the device is TELUS.
