UK to Test Emergency Mobile Alerts
In the UK later this year, tests will be run to see if emergency mobile alerts could be useful in times of flooding, terrorist attacks, crime or even powercuts. As BBC News reports Government pilots in Easingwold, in North Yorkshire, Leiston, in Suffolk, and Glasgow city centre will affect 50,000 people. The tests will be run in conjunction with Vodafone, O2 and EE. A report will be run (as always) in 2014 to see whether or not the service should be rolled out nationwide. Both traditional text messages and Cell Broadcast messages will be used. What do you think about this?
Xperia Z1 Now Available Unlocked in the UK
The successor to Sony’s Xperia Z is now available to purchase in the UK, unlocked. Of course, it’s not going to come cheap. At £550 and up, the Xperia Z1 is definitely a premium handset. Of course, the 20.7MP camera and quad-core Snapdragon 800 already determine that. Going further though, and this builds on the already great build that the Xperia Z had and its sleek design. You can buy the Xperia Z1 from Clove UK or Digital Phone Co.

Hitting the £99 price point, the device is set to be a 7-inch Android tablet with limited storage, something like 16GB. Performance isn’t going to be great but, where Tesco hope to gain attention is through bundling all of their services with the tablet, that could be called the “Hudl”. Being able to use your Clubcard on a tablet doesn’t sound that great to us but, what about you guys?
