It’s time for another one of our comparisons. But who’s going to come out on top? Who knows. That’s why these phone wars are so great. Today, we’ve got the Snapdragon 800-powered G2 vs the Snapdragon 600-powered Samsung Galaxy S4. These are both some powerful devices, that might have faster processors than your laptop or desktop at home. However which one is better? Let’s see.
Specifications
LG G2
The LG G2 tried some new stuff with the hardware. For instance, LG put the power button and volume rocker on the back of the device, instead of the side. It’s also got crazy thin bezels. On the sides of the device there’s nothing. But at the bottom there’s your headphone jack and microUSB port along with speaker grill. On the back is your camera, flash, volume rocker and power button not to mention your logos.
For the software, LG’s skin still looks basically the same. But they have added in some new features. Like Slide Aside. Which is their take on multi-tasking. It allows you to use three-fingers to swipe away the app, but it actually saves it in the memory. But only 3 apps work within that feature. There’s also Q Slide, which allows you to have some apps floating above others. Which is similar to Samsung’s Multi-window.
Samsung Galaxy S4
The Galaxy S4 was pretty predictable. Samsung had great success with the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2, that we were pretty sure they wouldn’t change much on a winning formula. Then again who would? As usual your power button is on the right side, volume on the left, microUSB port on the bottom and headphone jack up top. Nothing surprising there. Along with the camera on the back and your display on the front with a physical home button and 2 capacitive buttons.
For software, Samsung really loaded up the Galaxy S4. It brought along a ton of new features, including S Health. Which is one of my favorite features. It can track your steps, the calories you’ve taken in and so much more. Another is the Smart Pause. When you are watching a video and look away, it’ll automatically pause the video. It’s pretty neat, but can become very annoying. There’s lots of other great software features on the S4 as well.
…And The Winner Is….
I’d have to say the G2. I know they both came out at different times, but since the G2 does have the Snapdragon 800 processor, not only is it faster but it’s also quicker to charge. I have one right now that I’m working on reviewing and it can charge the full 3000mAh battery in under 2 hours. That’s pretty insane. It all comes down to personal preference though, and both devices are great.
