Sony just announced the QX10 and QX100 detachable lens cameras at IFA in Berlin. They are designed to bring a good, point-and-shoot style camera experience to smartphone users. The biggest complaint with Android phones is camera quality. Sony thinks that these devices will fix that issue.
The QX100 and QX10 are basically point-and-shoot cameras. They don’t have an actual camera body attached, it’s just the lens. The detachable lenses can pair with any smartphone using NFC, or they can be paired manually if needed. They connect over Wi-Fi and turn your phone display into a large viewfinder. Controls appear on the screen. You can save pictures to either the phone or the lens camera, or both if you want. Because the unit is attached to your phone, you can share these great photos to any social network almost immediately, using the apps you already know and love.
The QX10 is the lower-end version of Sony’s lens camera. It has an 18.2 megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor, 10x optical zoom, and comes in white and black. It has Sony’s SteadyShot optical image stabilization built into it too.
If you’ve been looking at the Xperia Z1 or the QX10, this is a good deal. Head on over to the Carphone Warehouse website and get your pre-order in before the deal ends.
