Featured: Top 10 Best Nexus 7 (2013) Cases

The ASUS Google Nexus 7 (2013) is probably still the best tablet you can buy for under $250 (or $300 if you want 32GB of storage). Naturally it’s a big seller for ASUS and Google given it’s price to spec ratio. So you’d expect tons of cases and accessories for the Nexus 7 right? Of course. But how do you know which ones are good enough to protect your case? Or which ones are the best? That’s what we’re here to discuss today. Currently there are at least a thousand different cases available on Amazon alone. So we’re not going to be able to list everything. As usual, if we missed a case that you think should be on our top 10, feel free to let us know in the comments below.

10. ASUS Travel Cover

Yes, we’re seeing official covers for the Nexus 7 less than 6 months after release. That’s a great thing. This travel cover is made by ASUS, who made the Nexus 7. Now it’s nothing spectacular. However if you’re looking for something relatively cheap, along with a case that works with wireless charging, this is a really great choice. One of the few cases I’ve found that allows you to wirelessly charge your Nexus 7 without removing the case.

9. Portenzo HardBack

Portenzo is one of those manufacturers that allow you to customize just about everything about the case you purchase. The Hardback cover is very slim and covers your Nexus 7, but has a hole in the back to access your camera. Additionally it has the magnet so when you close the case it goes into deep sleep and opening it unlocks your tablet. You can get it in a variety of color combinations as well as getting embossing on the case.

8. Poetic GraphGrip Case

Poetic is back with the Nexus 7 (2013) and they actually have a few cases to show off to us for the new Nexus 7. This one is the GraphGrip, which basically is like a silicon cover. Except the back is a bit grippy (I guess that’s a word?). It also comes in a ton of colors. Including black, blue, purple, red, pink and green. It’s a relatively cheap case that should do well in protecting your Nexus 7.

7. DODOCase HardCover Classic

DODOCase is one of my favorite Case manufacturers now. They’ve been kind enough to let me review cases of theirs for the original Nexus 7 and the new Nexus 7. Their cases are really well built and last quite a long time. I kept my Neuxs 7 (2012) in a DODOcase for nearly a year and you’d think the device was still brand new. The Hardcover Classic is pretty thin, it does come in a couple of color combinations. All of their cases are hand-made in San Francisco.

6. Amzer Silicon Jelly Soft Skin Fit Case Cover

Amzer may not be as popular as these other cases. However for the price and what the case actually does, it’s a great buy. It’s a silicon case that does protect the back and the front of your Nexus 7. It may not be the prettiest device, but it does what it should, and that’s protecting your device.

5. DODOcase Classic

Much like the other DODOcase we listed, this one is also available in a few colors and is definitely a great choice for protecting your Nexus 7. This case is made to look like a book. I do have one, and my Nexus 7 (2013) lives in it everyday. Unfortunately, wireless charging doesn’t work with it. But that’s not biggie for me.

4. Portenzo BookCase

This case is actually pretty similar to the DODOcase shown above. The reason why it’s ranked higher is the fact that there are more colors available for the same price. It does feature their IntelliStand technology, so you can use this to prop up your Nexus 7 if you’re looking to watch a movie or something. There’s also personal embossing and laser engraving available if you wish to use either of those.

3. Poetic Slimline Portfolio Case

This one’s another one of my favorites. The Poetic Slimline is a very slime case for the Nexus 7 that can also be folded into a stand, which is very useful if you use your Nexus 7 for a lot of media consumption. There’s also the magnet to allow you to close the cover and automatically put your tablet into deep sleep and opening it unlocks your Nexus 7. It’s probably the best case you can get for under $10.

2. DODOcase Folio

This is one of the more expensive cases around. It’s over $100 and does take a few weeks for DODOcase to hand-craft your brand new case. Some of the features include a book-style exterior, with a leather spine, there’s also eco-friendly Bamboo to hold your Nexus 7 in place. There’s also a refillable 24-page reporter-style notebook with room for a pen or stylus.

1. Portenzo Alano Case

The Alano case is another case that can get to be quite expensive. It has hand sanded American Maple frames with Smooth radius corners. Along with a double-glued elastic band. Their patented IntelliStand technology is also included along with the automatic wake/sleep functionality. It’s a very nice looking case. However, it’ll take a while for you to receive it since it is hand-made here in the US.
