If you purchased a device and then had questions on how to setup or operate that device there are several ways to get an answer:
- You could go to the manufacturer’s website, get a phone number to call for help, and then be put on hold after you push a dozen buttons.
- You could go to the manufacturer’s website, send them an email, and wait 2-4 business days for a response.
- You could go to the manufacturer’s website and see if they have a question and answer area, with the ever-present Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section.
- You could also go to the internet, search for your answer, and see what would pop up.
- You could go to the manufacturer’s website and hope they have forum for your product.
In all my years in the techie world, I have never found a quicker or faster way to get a question answered than directly through a forum. Most companies, Google especially, hate to answer questions directly to the public, so they like to use Google Groups. Google Groups is an excellent example of a forum where the Group is divided into subtopics to make your searches easier. Google has groups for just about everything or any question you could ask. When Google Chrome was launched, the Group they set up was an invaluable asset to people either thinking about buying Chrome or ones that already had purchased the product. However, there was one glaring omission – even though Nexus has been around since 2010, there was no Nexus Group or forum…and we are happy to say that omission is now been corrected.
The Nexus community is a passionate one, all you need to do is read the comments they leave every time an article is written about a Nexus product. Users love the pure Android experience with no TouchWiz, Moto Blur, HTC Sense, etc. to cover up the original Android programming. These “purists” now have a Google Group to call their own with plenty of subcategories, such as:
- Setting up your device
- Calls and voicemail
- Entering and editing text
- Using the camera
- Personalizing your device
- Managing accounts and settings
There is also a Device area for:
- Galaxy Nexus
- Nexus 4
- Nexus 7
- Nexus 10
- Other Nexus device
Let us know if you have explored the new Nexus Group and if it was helpful in answering your questions.
