Google Taking Glass on a Tour of America, Starting in Durham, NC

Google Glass is one of the most interesting projects Google has worked on in quite a long time. As we are beginning to enter the world of wearables, I suspect we’ll see more smartwatches and more devices similar to Google Glass from all the major companies. Including Apple and Microsoft, who have been rumored to be working on both their own pair of Glass and a smartwatch.

Until now, if you wanted to get your hands on Glass, you’d have to be part of their Explorer program and pay about $1500 for your pair of Glass, not to mention flying up to either their LA, Mountain View or NYC campus to get your pair. Quite a bit of money for a product in beta, right? On Thursday, Google announced on Google+ that they are taking Glass on a road trip. This is where you’ll be able to pick up Glass and try it on for yourself. As expected, members of the Glass team will also be around to answer any and all of your questions.

They are heading out to Durham, North Carolina on October 5th, which is part of the state’s science-focus Research Triangle. The team will be announcing more cities soon. Google is also expected to open up retail stores to let people try their products in malls across America. Which is a great idea, since they have a ton of great products for everyone. Not just Glass, but the Nexus family, Chromebooks, and even Chromecast. Glass is supposed to go on sale either late this year or early 2014 to general consumers. Which means all of us will be able to grab our own pair of Glass and have some fun.

Hopefully Google Glass will come to many cities and states, as I’m sure many of our readers would love to get their hands on some Glass. Hopefully they come to Detroit so I can check out Glass. How many of you are excited for Google Glass?
