The LG G2 is one of our most favorite phones of 2013. Well maybe I should say my favorite phone of the year since I’m the one that reviewed it. With the G2, LG took a few chances with the design. One thing being the volume and power button on the back. Which, at first, is a bit tough to get used too. But after a few days it’s pretty easy to use, and you definitely get used to it. Another thing is the very thin bezels, and the on-screen buttons. While the on-screen buttons aren’t really a new thing in design, since Google is pushing those with the Nexus line for the past couple years. It’s still odd to see them on a non-Nexus device.
What we really liked about the G2, is they didn’t just “copy” the Galaxy Note or Galaxy S devices from Samsung. But they took what worked in those and made it their own device. I like the Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3 and LG G2. But I liked the G2 better because it was something completely different. Which is going to make for a good comeback for LG really soon.
The video below takes you through the year-long process of designing the Optimus G successor the G2. It also shows off some of the early prototypes that just didn’t cut it, also what it took to get those incredibly tiny bezels on the G2. When manufacturers create videos like this and share them with us, it always puts a smile on our face. It’s pretty interesting to see how this all works. From the beginning of the design stage to the end.

How many of you have picked up the G2 or are planning on picking it up? LG is hoping to sell 10 million of these during the G2’s lifetime. I wonder if they can do it?
