HTC Announces BoomBass, a Mini-Subwoofer to Compliment BoomSound Speakers

HTC is really pushing their BoomSound speakers on the One and One Mini. This morning at IFA they announced a subwoofer cube speaker called BoomBass that is designed to bring you even better sound. BoomSound also features on a number of handsets around the globe, like the Desire 601, the Butterfly S and others. The accessory has a dedicated amplifier, and adds another layer of quality to the already excellent BoomSound speakers on their smartphones.

The portable BoomBass speakers have both NFC and Bluetooth connectivity, so you have the choice of how to pair your device. It also has a built-in 1200 mAh battery that will get you up to 9 hours of audio playback. That battery provides up to 120 hours of standby time. Although it has a built-in, rechargeable battery, it does not provide battery back-up for charging your smartphone. The cube itself is small, at only 64 x 64 x 64 millimeters. You can easily slide it into your pocket and carry it with you. BoomBass charges with a standard microUSB cable, making things even more convenient. HTC says that the subwoofer will enhance the quality in the low-end frequency range, providing better lows and an overall enhanced sound quality in a package that is easy to take with you.

BoomBass comes in one color option, the red and grey that you see pictured. Not only is it a speaker, but it can also serve as a stand for you phone while watching video. The accessory should be available sometime in the middle of October. An exact launch date, as well as pricing and market availability have yet to be announced.

In addition to the BoomBass speaker, HTC announced the Desire 601 and officially unveiled the vivid blue HTC One. The Desire 601 one is a mid-range device that looks a bit like the HTC One, but is priced for the budget-conscious. The vivid blue HTC One has been rumored for weeks, and we finally got our first official look at the device this morning.  Check out the full press release for the HTC BoomBass and both of the newly announced smartphones below.
