HTC One US Variants Have to Wait A Bit Longer for Android 4.3

HTC had promised that they would have the HTC One variants all updated to Android 4.3 by the end of September, which is almost over now. We’ve already seen it rolling out to the international versions and the developer editions. But as we expected, there’s been a delay with the carrier versions. Big surprise right? Although, the HTC One is still the first non-Nexus device to have Android 4.3 rolling out. Which is quite surprising. For Android 4.2 it was Sony first, and Android 4.1 was Samsung. And hearing everyone complain about HTC never updating phones, well they are updating the HTC One.

HTC’s exec, Jason MacKenzie has taken to Twitter to let us know what’s going on with the Android 4.3 updates for the HTC One’s in the US. He’s stated that the US carriers have been very supportive, which is surprising from the consumer point of view. He also said that the US variants “will slightly miss 9/30” which means it’s probably coming out shortly after the deadline they had set for themselves. He finishes off with the fact that they are working hard to release Android 4.3 across all US, Canada SKUs, including the DROID DNA.

Basically the problem is certification. So similar to what’s going on with the Nexus 7 LTE on Verizon. So we should see the updates rolling out soon. I’d expect T-Mobile and Sprint’s to come out first, as they are usually pretty fast with updates. Especially being compared to Verizon and AT&T.

So there you have it. HTC missing another deadline, well sort of. They were able to get the International, unlocked and Developer Editions of the HTC One updates rolling out. So it’s better than nothing, but at least HTC is being upfront about the whole thing.

Hoe many of you are still waiting on the Android 4.3 update for your HTC One?
