Much like Blackberry, HTC has been in a pretty tough spot financially. They make great phones, but they just aren’t selling. Why? Mainly because of their marketing. While they did market the One better than their previous devices, it’s still not enough, obviously. The One has sold pretty good for HTC, but it’s still no match for Samsung and their billion-dollar marketing budget.
Now there are reports coming out of a Greek website known as Tech Community, that HTC is working on an update to the HTC One. Probably the HTC One+. Like the HTC One X and X+ last year. This new updated HTC One is supposedly featuring a Octa-core processor. Which pretty much tells us it’s either a MediaTek or Exynos 5 processor. Since Qualcomm thinks Octa-cores are “stupid”. And NVIDIA has barely gotten their Tegra 4 out of the gate. I’m hoping it’ll be an Exynos processor, as most MediaTek processors aren’t high-end, in my opinion.
Additionally, the device is said to have 3GB of RAM. Which would make it the second (well maybe not, by the time it comes out) device to have 3GB of RAM. The Galaxy Note 3 announced earlier this month in Berlin has 3GB of RAM and a 2.3GHz processor. That thing’s a beast. It appears to be keeping the same 4.7-inch 1080p display, which is a pretty amazing display. Along with an UltraPixel camera on the back, and a 2.1MP camera on the front. It’s also supporting a/b/g/n/ac WiFi networks.
If HTC announces this device this year, they would have broken their own promise of only one flagship this year. Although I think manufactures need two flagships per year, as one just isn’t enough. Samsung has the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3. LG has the Optimus G Pro and the G2. Which HTC is supposedly announcing the One Max soon enough, but that may never be available worldwide.
