A few days ago, nobody knew anything about the next version of Android or the next Nexus phone. Now we have an official announcement for Android 4.4 KitKat and a possible leak for the new Nexus, including device model and some specs.
The LG-D821 has just been seen passing through the FCC a few days ago and now it has stopped by the Bluetooth SIG for certification as noted by Android Authority. If the D820 is the new Nexus, the D-821 must be some variation of it, maybe the LTE model.
Like any other Bluetooth SIG certification, it doesn’t gives us any new information about the device, but it usually means that it’s launch isn’t too far off so we can expect the device sooner rather than later, most likely somewhere in October as it’s usual.
Obviously, we can’t be sure that this device is the new Nexus, but it sure does look like the same device from the leak on Google’s video. What you see below is an animated Gif a Google+ user did where he placed the leaked image on top of the frame of the video and they’re a perfect match.
These leaks only give us two specs for screen and processor. The D820 will have a 4.96 inch screen and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 on the inside. Many people speculated that the new Nexus was going to have a S600 to keep the price down, but the 800 chip allows for many more LTE bands. This way the phone has LTE support for AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint, all in a single SKU. Verizon is missing but we don’t know if it’s a technical issue or Verizon’s lack of 700Mhz LTE network. Apart from these the other specs leaked are the obvious ones, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, NFC and Android 4.4.
Just remember than nothing of this is official, it’s just speculation and everything can change.
