Nexus 4 8GB Now Sold Out on Google Play, Just a Week after the $100 Price Drop

Just last week, we were talking about how Google had just slashed $100 off the price of the Nexus 4. Making it $199 and $249 for the 8GB and 16GB versions respectively. We all had assumed that Google had lowered the price to get rid of units they still had left to sell before they announced the new version this fall. Since it’s almost that time of year. Time for Nexus rumors with an official announcement expected sometime in October. It makes sense for Google to lower the price now. The rumor about the Nexus 7 delay was the fact that they still had so many units left that needed to be discounted and sold. Now we don’t know if that’s true or not, but it certainly is believable.

The Nexus 4 is still a great device, and at $199 it’s basically an impulse buy now. If you look at other phones that are $199 unlocked, you definitely won’t get anything close to what you get with this device. Not to mention the quick updates from Google and stock Android.

We’re expecting a big event in October in which we’ll see either the new Nexus 4 or the Nexus 5 along with the new Nexus 10 and Android 5.0 – Key Lime Pie. We’ll have our speculation up later on. But according to sources that event is set for October 31st, or around then. Which is the same time the event was supposed to take place last year, but was cancelled due to the hurricane. Hopefully we’ll have a nice show with Sundar and Matias this year.

Many of us believe the Nexus 4/5 will be based off of the LG G2. Which certainly makes sense, since the Nexus 4 was based off of the LG Optimus G last year, and we’ve heard rumblings of this years Nexus being made by LG again. So that’s not too far fetched.

So we still have the 16GB Nexus 4 on sale in the Play Store for $249. It’ll be the best $249 you’ll ever spend or a phone. How many of you took advantage of the $100 price cut?
