The Nexus 7 LTE had shown up on Google Play last week here in the US, and was on sale until Monday when it disappeared. Which we thought it might be because it supposedly doesn’t work with Verizon’s network, even though Google said it would. Maybe it’s just Verizon being Verizon?
Anyways, the Nexus 7 LTE just went live on the Play Store in about 10 countries including the US. Those lucky countries are Australia, Canada, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, UK, Japan, South Korea and the US. If you’re looking to pick one up, this link should help you out.
In addition to the three variants we knew would be available on the Play Store (16GB, 32GB and LTE 32GB). There is also an unlocked LTE variant, AT&T variant and a T-Mobile variant. They are all unlocked, but the AT&T and T-Mobile variants do come with their respective SIMs so you don’t have to go running out and grabbing a new SIM for your brand new Nexus 7.
As many of you expected, the Verizon one is no where to be seen. I’ve heard plenty of horror stories over the past week about Verizon customers trying to put their Nexus 7 on their account and itnot working. Which really sucks, since we were all so excited to see the Nexus 7 work on Verizon as well as our favorite (or not so favorite) GSM carriers. I’m going to remain hopeful that Google and Verizon can work this out. But here’s what happened with one This Week in Google’s hosts, Jeff Jarvis, when he tried to add his LTE Nexus 7 to his Verizon account. Definitely not pretty folks.
As always, you can head over to the Play Store and get your LTE Nexus 7 for $349 + tax and shipping. It’s definitely a great deal, especially given that you’re getting an unlocked tablet. You’d be hard pressed to find another LTE tablet that sells for this price and has these kind of specs.
